Family Partner

Under direct supervision (typically the Center Director with the guidance of the Early Head Start/Head Start Program managers), the Early Head Start Family Partner will be responsible for providing direct, comprehensive services to the children and their families through home visits and parent participation class time activities as assigned.  This classification has two program options.  The Home Base Program option provides one home visit weekly to each assigned family and conducts bi-monthly class times.  The Combination Program option provides two home visits per month and weekly class times.  The Combination Program option changes to the Home Base Program option during the first and last months of the school year.  Work load/case load shall be in compliance with Federal guidelines for the program.


  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • Six (6) semester units in ECE/ Child Development and three (3) or more semester units Infant/Toddler field
  • Must complete additional three (3) units in Infant/Toddler within one year of employment
  • Three (3) or more semester units in Social Services or Health Services related fields
  • Valid California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit OR Home-based Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or comparable credential, or equivalent coursework as part of an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
  • One (1) year experience with children ages 0-3 years in a child care, health or social service setting


Valid CPR, First Aid and Food Handlers Cards must be obtained within first two months (2) of employment and maintained throughout employment (paid, designated training available through MAAC) In the event employees do not attend the scheduled training, they must obtain the cards through outside resources and costs will not be reimbursed. The cards must be obtained and maintained within prescribed timelines.
