Family Resource Assistant (FRA) position to work with Head Start Families




$13.86 to $14.65 an hour. Eight(8) hours a day, five (5) days a week with full benefit package.




  • Associate Degree in Human Services or related field with two years’ experience working directly with families
  • Basic computer experience required.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to handle multiple and dynamic work tasks.
  • Must be able to work well with a diverse population of co-workers, clients, providers, and communities.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including some evenings/weekends.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish Required



Major Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for child enrollment in Head Start Center services.
  • Provides family services to up to 40 families (primarily in Willows) and maintains appropriate documentation.
  • Completes assessment and supports families to develop and accomplish goals leading to greater self-sufficiency.
  • Maintains regular communication with assigned Teacher/Directors regarding family information that may affect children’s learning and/or behavior.
  • Assists parents to complete children’s health requirements and with other health, dental, and nutrition needs, and maintains current records.
  • Provides transportation and translation for families for health and social service appointments, as needed.
  • Makes appropriate family referrals to community resources and follows up to see that the referrals are meeting the family’s needs.
  • Supports parent engagement with program activities.
  • Arranges and provides opportunity for parents to enhance their skills and knowledge.



Work Year:


234 days (July-June). Position to begin January/February 2019.

Glenn County Office of Education oversees and administers all early care and education funds through Child and Family Services (CaFS) for Glenn County with the exception of a single State Preschool contract and Migrant Head Start program. In the 2017 to 2018 program year, 260 children were enrolled in Head Start and Early Head Start programs, 5 preschoolers attended our State Preschool programs, 258 CalWorks Perinatal Child Care program participants and approximately 475 children participated in subsidized child care offered through our Child Care Resource Referral and Payment Program.  All Head Start services are provided at no cost to families.

To better serve our community, we offer a variety of preschool and child care programs to meet the diverse needs of families residing in Glenn County.  Over seventy employees provide comprehensive educational and child care services for children annually. We provide services to over 902 children and their families in the programs we offer such as Head Start, Early Head Start, Home‐based Head Start, State Preschool, Family Child Care Home Education Network, subsidized child care programs, and CalWORKS child care for eligible families participating in onsite programs at the Health and Human Services Agency.

Thirty-seven (37) licensed family child care providers and 36 exempt (non‐licensed) childcare providers work with our Department to provide subsidized childcare for families who are working, training, in school, seeking employment, or who are incapacitated
