Child Development Teacher

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Director or designee, the teacher is responsible for providing an engaging and secure learning environment in which children can expand their knowledge and skills through a variety of experiences and interactions which form a foundation for school readiness and later school success.

This position is distinguished by employment being determined by Policy Council. Continued operation of the educational program and employment of staff is dependent on the availability of Federal/State Funding.



A combination of formal education, life experience, and work experience are considered when evaluating qualifications. A Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field with a valid Child Development Site Supervisor Permit is required . Must meet Title 22 licensing standards. Knowledge of child development, family interaction and community resources is desired. A minimum of three years recent experience in Early Care and Education Programs is required.

For the Tahoe centers, an Associate of Arts degree in Child Development or related field may be considered with an Educational Plan to complete a Bachelor’s Degree within two years.

Immunization and TB test clearances, Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance which includes DOJ, FBI, Sex Offender Registry, and Child Abuse Index Check required to meet Federal and State Licensing requirements prior to employment. Continued employment is conditional upon a completed health screening no later than 7 days of hire and successful completion of pediatric CPR and first aid within six months of hire. A valid California driver’s license and evidence of insurability.
