The City of Oakland is currently recruiting to fill Family Advocate Exempt Limited Duration vacancies in the Head Start/Early Head Start Program of the Department of Human Services. Under supervision from the Community and Family Engagement Coordinator, incumbents will work with the parents and children enrolled in the Head Start/Early Head Start Program to serve as a link between the center and the home. This position will have strong focus on the health aspects of the family advocate role and will require strong computer skills to enter and track health data and be able to learn use of the Child Plus system to run reports and monitor engagement with families. Other duties include providing social services and building partnerships with families; recruiting eligible children and coordinating family engagement activities; promoting literacy education; and providing health and nutrition assessments.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION
Any combination of education and experience that is equivalent to the following minimum qualifications is acceptable.
Education: An Associate's Degree in a related field with a minimum of twelve (12) Early Childhood Education units. College level coursework in elementary education, social work, counseling or nursing is desirable.
Experience: Two years of experience in coordinating or implementing health, social or education services to low income families.
