JOB DUTIES:  Duties of the position will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Implement strategies created with Executive Director to inform, involve, and cultivate general donor base.
  2. Plan and implement annual direct mail campaigns including fall annual appeal and spring reminder letters to general donor base. Create and implement online general fundraising campaigns.  Manage quarterly donor e-newsletter, e-updates, dynamic content with Marketing Manager for IHSD website.  Create campaign for regular volunteers to solicit their peers through mail and telephone follow-up.
  3. Cultivate regular volunteers to become donors to IHSD.  Identify potential major donors in general database, research prospects, and make recommendations for upgrading.
  4. Support development of major gifts campaigns. Plan major organizational events including coordinating invitations, mailing lists, and logistics with administrative staff.  With Executive/Program Director to strategize and implement methods to create revenue from new revenue streams.



  1. Minimum of 2 years’ experience with a non-profit, preferably in development. Experience with direct mail, donor research, development publications is preferred. 
  2. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of internet research, word processing and EXCEL. Knowledge of automated database management and development software is a plus.
  3. Experience working with board members, donors, volunteers and program staff on collaborative activities.
  4. Experience with organizing and managing the logistics of events.  Must be a self-starter and have a sense of humor.
  5. Commitment to the environment, a love of nature, and an interest in learning more about the natural environs and IHSD’s involvement in local communities a must.
