SETA is looking for a talented, high-level administrative professional who must have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multi-task, organize, manage time, and prioritize workflow in support of Agency functions.

Position Summary:   As a vital staff member, the Staff Support Officer is responsible to a Deputy Director or Department Chief or designee.  Under general direction, this position supervises and coordinates a variety of office and program administrative assistance assignments.  This individual will plan and organize work procedures in assigned areas and monitor results, performs the most difficult office support, administrative detail and secretarial assignments, answers public and staff contacts and concerns, and performs related work as required.  Below is a list of some of the responsibilities: 

  1. Plans, organizes, supervises, and coordinates various office functions;
  2. Trains, supervises, and provides guidance to other office staff;
  3. Evaluates the work of the office staff, makes recommendations on the modification of office procedures and policies;
  4. Compiles technical information and prepares program and/or financial reports;
  5. Types letters, documents, reports, budget, leases, and a variety of other information; originates and maintains a variety of files and records;
  6. Receives and processes forms and reports; orders, stores, and issues office supplies and other program materials and services;
  7. Performs a variety of administrative duties;
  8. Retrieves and compiles requested information;
  9. Coordinates changes to Agency telephone equipment;
  10. Coordinates moves, prepares correspondence;
  11. Receives office visitors and telephone calls, providing a variety of information about program functions and activities;
  12. Responds to complaints;
  13. Operates office equipment.

Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of training and experience which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain this knowledge and abilities would be:

  1. Increasingly responsible office assistance and administrative assistance work experience and/or education or training, preferably including a lead or supervisory role comparable to a Typist Clerk III with the Sacramento Employment and Training Agency or a similar occupation/classification
