Overview

The Child Development Family Services Manager oversees comprehensive family, community engagement, and mental health services for children and families in the Head Start program. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and collaborates with staff, parents, mental health professionals, and community partners to promote family well-being, child development, and school readiness.

This position requires approximately 25% regional travel within the Southern California.

Hiring Range: $83K - $104K / Year

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the recruitment, enrollment, and engagement of families in the Head Start program.
  • Manages and supports a team , including (but not limited to) Family Support Workers, providing training, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensures compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Assesses family needs and provide referrals to community services, including health, housing, employment, and education resources.
  • Monitors program data and outcomes to assess service effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintains accurate records and reports on family services, ensuring timely data entry.
  • Collaborates with education and health services staff to ensure an integrated approach to supporting families.
  • Leads the development and implementation of family and community engagement strategies.
  • Builds relationships with community organizations and stakeholders to provide resources and services for families.
  • Coordinates with health and mental health professionals to provide consultation, assessments, and individualized services for children and families.
  • Ensures timely referrals and appropriate services for children and families with health or mental health needs.
  • Collaborates with ESSC leadership and corporate departments to promote a trauma-informed approach across the program.
  • Provides staff with opportunities for professional growth through workshops, seminars, and other educational resources.

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Family Studies, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in family services, social work, or community engagement, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Experience working with diverse and under-served populations.
  • Knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficient in utilizing computer systems for data entry, tracking, and reporting. Also skilled in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent supervisory and coaching skills.
