Summary:
The Education Manager is responsible for high-quality early education and child development services. Ensure implementation of the Head Start research-based curriculum that support individualization and growth in the areas of development described in the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF). Responsible for supervising Head Start Preschools ensuring quality services are provided for children as it pertains to curriculum, children’s assessment, environments, and health and safety of centers. Ensure School Readiness goals align with current Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) child assessment data, ELOF, California State Foundations, Parent, Family, and Community Engagement Framework.
Reporting Requirements:
The Education Manager reports directly to the Director Program Operations.

This is an exempt, full-time, 11-month position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates within the KidZCommunity vision/mission/values.
- Operates from the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct.
- Understands and operates using Equity Practices.
- Follows the Head Start Performance Standards.
- Follows the personnel policies & procedures.
- Ensures preschool programs are implementing the Head Start Performance Standards, Title 22 & Title 5 Regulations, the Operations Manual and the agency policies and procedures.
- Ensures the conformance of each Head Start program as pertains to curriculum fidelity, children’s Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP), Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), CLASS Environment, and the health and safety of children.
- Conduct Head Start monthly classroom observations utilizing program coaching systems; observation, reflective feedback, goal planning, follow-up, and feedback.
- Collects, processes, follows-up and distributes data documentation; DRDP data reports and Summary of Findings, Parent Survey Summary of Findings, CLASS Summary of Findings and other pertinent Child Development data.
- Ensures agency timelines are adhered as they relate to reporting responsibilities; DRDP assessments and agency School Readiness goals and other agency timelines that are appliable.
- Co-lead Child Development Advisory Committee developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of the agency’s School Readiness Goals.
- Provides training workshops supporting the School Readiness Goals, High/Scope curriculum fidelity, Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF), California Preschool Learning Foundation, Desired Results Development Profile (DRDP), Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) and Center for the Social Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL) throughout the program year.
- Ensure all new hired Head Start teaching staff receive onboarding Child Development training.
- Participates in Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings with applicable lead follow-up.
- Reviews and approves all classroom modifications as it pertains to DS-1’s, IEP/IFSP.
- Monitor End-of-Month administrative paperwork.
- Participate in team and individual meetings regularly scheduled and as needed to ensure coordination of education services across agency early childhood programs.
- Participates in agency’s Career Development Program, taking related courses when necessary or other training when directed as a program requirement.
- Attends all Child Development and Unit alignment meetings.
- Attends all staff development Pre-service and In-service trainings.
- Analyzes and prioritizes work.
- Performs other duties as assigned and adapts to rapidly changing environments.

- Foundational knowledge and training in Practice-Based Coaching (PBC).

- Operation of common business software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Experience:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
- CLASS certified or ability to obtain certification within three months of hire.
- Minimum of five years working in an Early Head Start/Head Start classroom
- Ability to analyze and interpret data.
Mathematical Ability:
Basic mathematical skills.
Language Ability:
Strong English skills, including vocabulary, grammatical usage, spelling, and punctuation.
Other Abilities:
Must exercise independent judgment in all functions of the job and must have the ability to communicate effectively internally and with interagency community professionals.
Continuing Education:
Training as required.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:
- Physical Activity: 85% of time standing, walking, stooping, bending, carrying or twisting; 5% of time sitting.
- Use of Senses: Ability to articulate a normal conversation with normal hearing whether verbal or over the telephone. Normal vision corrected if necessary.
- Environmental Conditions: The duties of this position are usually performed in a hazard-free indoor environment and occasionally outdoors in weather conditions. The noise level is moderate.
- Atmospheric Conditions: No fumes, odors, dust, mildew, smoke, gasses, or poor ventilation.
Other Requirements:
- Department of Justice Live Scan, Child Abuse Index Clearance, Megan’s Law Verification.
- Post-offer physical examination; TB clearance; proof of immunization or immunity to pertussis and measles; and annual flu vaccination or signed declination
- Valid Class C driver’s license, readily available and reliable transportation and minimum vehicle insurance as required by state law.
- Current Pediatric First Aid Certificate; current Infant/Child CPR Certificate
