Summary:
The Infant Care Teacher is responsible for assisting the Site Supervisor in the administration of an infant and toddler program based on an understanding of the following knowledge and essential job duties and responsibilities.
Reporting Requirements:
The Infant Care Teacher is directly supervised by the Site Supervisor.
Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Status and Classification:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Number of months per year varies according to site.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates within the KidZCommunity vision/mission/values.
- Operates from the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct.
- Follows the Head Start Performance Standards.
- Follows the personnel policies & procedures.
- Understands and operates using Equity Practices.
- Ensures Title 22 ratio and licensing guidelines are followed.
- Interacts with children, families, and staff appropriately.
- Implements the 3 R's curriculum with fidelity.
- Creates lesson plans.
- Uses curriculum enhancements.
- Uses the school readiness goals for planning.
- Ensures Active Supervision at all times.
- Follows the PITC philosophy.
- Includes families in curriculum planning.
- Works with parents for ASQ and ASQ-SE.
- Observes and does the record keeping for DRDP Assessments.
- Creates individual child development plans.
- Conducts parent/teacher conferences.
- Conducts educational home visits.
- Supports the process of children’s transition plans.
- Sets up the classroom/yard environment, including modifications for children with disabilities.
- Assists families with maintenance of health and medical records.
- Operates within the KidZCommunity health & safety policies & procedures (i.e., timely health & safety checklist).
- Engages parents in the classroom and at parent meetings.
- Follows agency timelines.
- Participation at child family focus meetings.
- Participation at scheduled site staff meetings.
- Follows CACFP requirements when preparing and serving food.
- Uses ChildPlus.net to gain needed information on children.
- Follows the recruitment plan, attendance policy & enrollment process.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience:
- One year experience in infant/toddler care a plus.
Education and Permits:
- Six (6) Infant/Toddler ECE/CD units completed and a minimum of twelve (12) units in ECE, including Core Course requirements. An Associate Teacher Permit must be, at a minimum, applied for within 60 days of hire date and must be maintained or upgraded throughout the course of employment.

- Three (3) Infant/Toddler ECE/CD units completed and a minimum of twelve (12) units in ECE, including Core Course requirements; the second Infant/Toddler class must be completed within one (1) year. An Associate Teacher Permit must be, at minimum, applied for within 60 days of hire and must be maintained or upgraded throughout the course of employment.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:
- Physical Activity: Frequent standing, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, crouching, crawling, kneeling, carrying, or twisting while holding an infant/toddler in arms; regularly sitting in chairs and on floor. Ability to lift 35 lbs.
- Use of Senses: Ability to articulate a normal conversation with normal hearing whether verbal or over the telephone. Normal vision corrected if necessary.
- Environmental Conditions: The duties of this position are usually performed in a hazard-free indoor environment and occasionally outdoors in weather conditions. The noise level is moderate.
- Atmospheric Conditions: No fumes, odors, dust, mildew, smoke, gasses or poor ventilation.
Other Requirements:
- Department of Justice Fingerprint and child abuse index clearance.
- Post-offer physical examination; TB clearance; proof of immunization or immunity to pertussis and measles; and annual flu vaccination or signed declination.
- Current Pediatric First Aid Certificate; current Infant/Child CPR Certificate.
- Current Mandated Reporter Certificate. All staff are mandated reporters A mandated reporter is required by law to report known or suspected cases of child abuse or neglect to their local child protective services agency.
